"Cool Air" is a short story by the American horror fiction writer H. P. Lovecraft, written in March 1926 and published in the March 1928 issue of Tales of Magic and Mystery. Lovecraft wrote "Cool Air" during his unhappy stay in New York City, during which he wrote three horror stories with a New York setting. In "Lovecraft's New York Exile," David E. Schultz cites the contrast Lovecraft felt between his apartment, crammed with relics of his beloved New England, and the immigrant neighborhood of Red Hook near where he lived as an inspiration for the "unsettling juxtaposition of opposites" that characterizes the short story. Like the story's main character, Schultz suggests, Lovecraft, cut off from his native Providence, Rhode Island, felt himself to be just going through the motions of life. The narrator's phobia about cool air is reminiscent of Lovecraft himself, who was abnormally sensitive to cold. Lovecraft stated years later that the story that inspired "Cool Air" was Arthur Machen's "The Novel of the White Powder," another tale of bodily disintegration.

"The Descendant" is a horror story fragment by American writer H. P. Lovecraft, believed to have been written in 1927. It was first published in the journal Leaves in 1938, after Lovecraft's death. Lovecraft may have been referring to this attempt at a story when he wrote that he was "making a very careful study of London...in order to get background for tales involving richer antiquities than America can furnish."

"The Cthulhu Mythos" is a system of entities, books, and locations created by H. P. Lovecraft.

"HorrorBabble's Cthulhu Mythos" adheres to "Lovecraft: A Look Behind the Cthulhu Mythos" by Lin Carter, whose requirement for including a story was that it must "present us with a significant item of information about the background lore of the Mythos, thus contributing important information to a common body of lore."

FAQ regarding the exclusion of "The Mound": When Carter published his book in 1972, The Mound was still to be unearthed in its entirety (the original text was finally published in 1989). This collection follows Carter's 1972 list of Cthulhu Mythos stories.

This collection was recorded over a period of 3 years, from November 2015 through to September 2018.

The Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Carl Jung studied astrology for over 40 years, and was primarily interested in the way astrology could help to explore the psyche. For Jung, astrology represents the sum of all the psychological knowledge of antiquity. The notion of seeing mythic narratives through patterns in the heavens is one of the earliest attempts to link the outer world with the inner world.

The well-known Hermetic dictum, “As above, so below,” is key to astrology. It is the idea that man (the microcosm), is influenced by the universe (the macrocosm). That is to say, truths about the nature of the cosmos may be inferred from truths about human nature, and vice versa.

At the exact moment of birth, each person receives the typical qualities of the libido or energy which is characteristic of him or her. Time, or the moment understood as a peculiar form of energy, seems to coincide with our psychological condition. For Jung, this leads to a peculiar hypothesis, that our personality does not have to do with the position of the stars, but rather with the qualitative effect of time, also called synchronicity, based on the ancient Stoic concept of cosmic sympathy.

Robert Fludd was an English physician, alchemist, and mystical philosopher known for his diverse contributions to fields such as medicine, natural philosophy, and the esoteric arts.
Although not a direct founder of the Rosicrucian Order, Fludd's writings often featured Rosicrucian themes, reflecting a synthesis of spiritual and scientific ideas.
His beliefs were deeply rooted in the microcosm-macrocosm correspondence, a Hermetic concept, and he incorporated theosophical ideas, exploring mystical and divine aspects of reality.
Fludd's most notable work, "Utriusque Cosmi, Maioris scilicet et Minoris, Metaphysica, Physica, Atque Technica Historia," covered cosmology, alchemy, and the mystical dimensions of the universe.
His eclectic beliefs combined traditional scientific knowledge with esoteric ideas, leaving a lasting impact on the intersection of science, mysticism, and the occult during the early modern period.

"The Beast in the Cave" is a short story by American horror fiction writer H. P. Lovecraft. The first draft was written in the Spring of 1904, with the final draft finished in April 1905, when Lovecraft was age fourteen. It was first published in the June 1918 issue of the amateur journalism publication The Vagrant, this being the equivalent of a well-edited fanzine today. The tale is to be regarded as an example of Lovecraft's juvenilia, and is classed as such in collections of his works. PLOT: A man touring the vast Mammoth Cave becomes separated from his guide and becomes lost. His torch expires and he is giving up hope of finding a way out in the pitch dark when he hears strange non-human footsteps approaching him...
